Diamond Innovations
Diamond Innovations was a leading manufacturer of superabrasive products and services including synthetic diamond and cubic boron nitride crystals used in sawing, grinding, machining, drilling, and polishing applications in a wide variety of industries. Formerly the Superabrasives business of GE, the business had faced years of declining volumes and pricing due to a prolonged industry downtown and substantial global overcapacity. Littlejohn acquired the business from GE and along with its management team established DI as an independent company. This transformation involved significant infrastructure investments in management information systems, organizational resources, benefit programs and new product development.

Over the course of Littlejohn's ownership, management significantly increased productivity, improved working capital management and successfully introduced several important new product lines. As a result of these initiatives, revenues increased by 11% and EBITDA by 16% during Littlejohn's ownership period. DI was acquired in 2007 by Sandvik AB, a global leader in a broad range of materials technologies.
